The Safe Mountain Foundation, based in Villa Cameron, Courmayeur, is an operational centre for research and the application of technological innovation at high altitude. Its primary role is to bring the mountains to a wider public and promote a host of associated activities: accident prevention, mountain safety, potential natural risks, climate change, sustainable development and training courses.
Espace Mont-Blanc is a cross-border cooperation for environmental education and in the summer organises informal workshops in the Casermetta at the Col de la Seigne (2365 m. Val Vény, Courmayeur). These meetings cover topics such as natural risks, glaciology, flora and fauna, safety in the mountains, physiological adaptation to high altitude and renewable energy.
Children aged from 8 to 14 years can learn safe glacier techniques with the Val d’Aosta mountain guides on the Col du Géant glacier.
