The Mont Blanc Tunnel has connected the tourist resorts of Courmayeur Mont Blanc and Chamonix since 1965. A grand 11.6 kms long, this international line of communication between France and Italy is of vital importance to economic, social and cultural relations at the European level.
There is unrestricted access to Chamonix via the Mont Blanc Tunnel (toll payable): for up-to-the-minute info on closures and traffic flow go to www.tunnelmb.net.
There is a convenient, comfortable and inexpensive coach service running 7 days a week to Courmayeur and Chamonix Mont Blanc.
In summer there are six coaches per day, some of which run extended journeys to and from Aosta. The coaches arrive and depart from Piazzale Mont Blanc in Courmayeur and the Bus Station in Chamonix.
