Courmayeur Mont Blanc is bustling with restaurants, bistrots and exclusive wine bars; their proprietors’ passion for good food, conviviality and high quality local foods, is one of the town’s precious assets.
Even up in the mountains and on the ski slopes you can find superb cuisine: with 18 restaurants, bars and refuges in the skiing area alone, the most demanding of tastes are bound to be satisfied.
Enjoy an “à la carte” lunch on the slopes and savour traditional dishes recreated with artistic flair by local chefs, or try the sumptuous Courmayeur panino made with strictly local ingredients: bread baked in a wood oven, Jambon de Bosses (a type of prosciutto) and fontina cheese, all Valle d’Aosta DOP products. To show how good the restaurants are, multi-starred English chef Heston Blumenthal, a devotee of the mountain risto-chalet, comes back to Courmayeur Mont Blanc every year for a holiday and for the pleasures of the local cuisine.
If you want something really special in winter, head for one of the many risto-chalets for a romantic after-dark dinner in the mountains. To get there, take the Courmayeur Cable Car, which stays open on these special nights until midnight, or jump aboard a snowmobile.
The brand is displayed in shops where you can buy genuine typical Valle d'Aosta products, and places where you can have a traditional lunch or dinner.
