Antonella Ruggiero, universally considered one of the most intense and evocative voices in the Italian music scene, has, over the years, demonstrated her curiosity by experimenting with different sonic and artistic forms. After her 14-year journey with Matia Bazar and a seven-year break, Antonella Ruggiero resumed her career in 1996, ranging from sacred music to jazz, as well as Jewish, Portuguese, Eastern, and folk traditions.

Arpeggio Elettrico is Antonella Ruggiero’s concert with Adriano Sangineto on the Celtic harp and bass clarinet, and Roberto Colombo on vocoder, liturgical organ, and bass synth: a proposal of remarkable charm that debuted in July 2021 at the Roman Theater in Verona.

Adriano Sangineto’s Celtic harp is, here and there, processed with effects that radically change its sound, enriching it and creating fascinating sonic spaces. The bass clarinet interventions help make the two pieces featuring this instrument particularly unique. The equally unusual sound of Roberto Colombo’s vocoder creates a suggestive choral tone, which, together with the sound of the liturgical organ, adds depth to the entire performance. In another way, the vocoder also supports the bass synth, which provides the accompaniment for the harp.

With these unique sounds, Antonella Ruggiero’s voice expresses itself through the interpretation of the vast repertoire from which the setlist of Arpeggio Elettrico is composed: it spans across authorial songs, ethnic music, sacred pieces, and songs Antonella has performed throughout the years.
