Reopening of the Tunnel del Monte Bianco

The reopening to traffic is anticipated to Friday 15 December 2023, at 4.00 pm.

At the end of nine weeks of tireless mobilization and organization by the TMB-EEIG staff and the contracting companies, the reopening of the Mont Blanc Tunnel, initially scheduled for 18 December, is brought forward by three days, to Friday 15 December 2023 at 4.00 pm.

The technical maintenance sites started last October 16th are nearing completion, after 9 consecutive weeks of co-activity which saw a total of over 200 people and 50 companies employed, for a total of 20 million euros of investments.

The circulation of all vehicles at the Mont Blanc Tunnel will therefore be restored at 4.00 pm on Friday 15 December 2023, at the end of the verification tests of all safety systems.

The annual security exercise organized under the aegis of the Italian and French prefectural authorities will take place on Monday 18 December at 5pm, which will involve over 1300 Italian and French participants.

To carry out this exercise, a traffic interruption lasting 5 hours will be necessary, from 5.00 pm to 10.00 pm on Monday 18 December 2023.
